August 21, 2017. A letter from Mrs. Falwell.

We were excited about this project!  So happy to be able to help.  This project was funded by Weather Talk.

This was Calloway County School District.  Murray, Kentucky.  Grades 3 through 5.

Dear Beau Dodson,

I cannot even begin to thank you enough for the resources that you have donated to my classroom. My class has already benefited greatly from having Chromebooks to access grade level standards and activities and we just started the school year! Because of your generous donation, I am able to ability group my students, while scaffolding their work to meet their individual needs. Without these Chromebooks, this simply would not be a possibility. My students are now sure to grow by leaps and bounds while accessing materials in a fun and engaging way. Thank you for digging deep in order to help others succeed! I am truly grateful for you and this generous donation!

With gratitude,
Mrs. Falwell

Oh, The Places We'll Go!

Beau Dodson Weather sponsored books for Mrs. Dickerson's classroom at Central Elementary School in Mayfield, Kentucky.

We were thrilled to help with this project.  Who doesn't like reading!  I can remember checking out all of the weather books when I attended Jefferson Elementary School!

2017 Scholarship Recipient Announced. Diamond Talley.

Congratulations to our first-ever recipient of the Justin Croach Memorial Scholarship, 2017 Massac County High School graduate Diamond Talley. He has plans to major in music education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.

Throughout his high school career, Diamond served as a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the drama club and a member of the marching, concert and jazz band. He attends Mt. Horeb Church in Metropolis and is involved in their music ministry and nursing home ministry.

In his scholarship essay, Diamond wrote, “Having the privilege of helping students find and pursue their musical passions is an honor… As a music teacher I do not plan on molding students to a certain standard or style of playing but help them be effective and efficient in finding out how to express themselves musically. Like Justin Croach, I have realized how much the arts have changed my life and without them, I would not be the person I am today.”

August 6, 2017. "Private Learning Experience through Headphones" Reidland Elementary School, Reidland, Kentucky

We fully funded this project for Mrs. Thompson who teaches at Reidland Elementary.   This project is for kids in grades 3 through 5.

Her Project

Her students are blessed to have access to nine computers in her classroom. Her students use them to take Accelerator Reader tests, and complete several other computer programs that they are, once again, blessed to have access to! They desperately needed headphones, in order to have a private learning experience. They have access to several computer programs that allow students to master skills on their own level, and at their own pace. Learning needs to be private, and without headphones, it is not! Her students deserve to learn in a private setting. They use their computers everyday!

Mrs. Falwell's Students

Mrs. Falwell teaches in a Title I school in which the majority of her students fall below poverty levels. Many of her students do not have access to technology outside of the school setting. She works daily with special needs students ranging in ability levels. Some of her students read above average, but struggle in other areas of the school day,, others read well below grade level. These weaknesses affect each and every area of their lives. One way to level the playing field for these students is to allow the use of assistive technology in all classroom settings. Due to budget cuts, they do not have the resources to put technology into the hands of all of their students.

Her Project

She teaches a wonderful group of students in grades 4 and 5 who just happen to have a special need which makes them even more unique. These special needs do not stop them from wanting to succeed! This particular group of students range from average to high intelligence to those with Mild Mental Disabilities. These students do not want to take the easy road, but want to participate in all classroom activities like their same age peers.

Chromebooks would allow my students to participate in grade level activities, assignments, and projects while breaking down the barriers that disabilities put in their way.
 ~ Mrs. Falwell

Chromebooks would not only allow for her students to read materials on and above their grade level, but would allow them to participate in group activities and class discussions. Google Classroom assignments would allow for her to scaffold her lessons in a way in which she can reach all students and their varying ability levels.
