August 1, 2017. Making Science Fun! Mrs. Warren Classroom at Metropolis Elementary located in Metropolis, Illnois.

This project was funded by two donors.  We were one of the two.  This is an exciting project.  SCIENCE!  Right up our alley.

The money was used to purchase a variety of interactive science projects.   We were thrilled to help with this project.

Mrs. Warren's Project

Mrs. Warren is trying to bring Science to life by allowing the students the opportunity to conduct various science experiments. Students will grow their own gardens, feed and watch birds grow from our windows, build various electrical circuits, grow bacteria, and much more. These experiments will allow them to have fun while building lifelong memories.

These resources will allow her the opportunity to make their science textbook become more exciting.

This will help create an interest in students willingness to want to learn more about science. Every year, Mrs. Warren has a couple of students asking the first day of school if we will be doing science experiments. It is my goal to do as many as possible and keep it fun!

June 24, 2017. iCompose with an iPad. Jefferson Elementary School, Massac County, Illinois

There were an amazing 48 donors for this project!  You can read more about it by clicking here

This project was for Mrs. Kennedy at Jefferson Elementary grades three and four.

The Project

Teaching at two schools is great, except when it comes to equipment and technology. Mrs. Kennedy is usually only able to buy one of any given thing, then transport it back and forth. Her students need an iPad to go with the Recording Studio equipment that they recently received. The addition of another iPad will allow Mrs. Kennedy to leave the equipment set up at each school so that the students will be able to get more use out of it.

I have so many creative students who will be able to use this to write their own songs!
~ Mrs. Kennedy

In addition to using it with the Recording Studio, they can use it in other aspects of their classroom as well. she can allow students to listen to songs, research different things, watch videos, use apps to work on note reading...the possibilities are endless!

July 28, 2017. Plant It, Grow It, Compost It! Nancy B's Science Club

This science project will help third graders study plants. Tom's of Maine has inspired Mrs. Thomasson to step out of the box and do more than just the basic textbook lessons on plants and compost.

Growing their own vegetables through the use of hydroponics, and watching materials decay through the composting process will be much more meaningful through hands-on experiments rather than through simple pictures in a textbook or a video that they watch.

She is looking forward to engaging her students in not only these experiments, but she also wants to see them studying plants around them. They will be keeping plant journals and pressing plants and leaves as they use the iPad to identify the plants in the world around them!

There were two financial donor's that helped sponsor this project.  To read more about the project ~ click here.

June 24, 2017. Book Nook! Farmington Elementary School in Mayfield, Kentucky!

June 24, 2017

Even though it is summer, we are still helping to support the needs of local schools.  The kids are out, but the teachers are planning.

Beau Dodson Weather and Weather Talk subscribers recently helped Farmington Elementary School in Mayfield, Kentucky with a Book Nook project!

There were a total of six individuals that helped make this project successful. The total amount raised was $727.00.

The project will help benefit the students in Mrs. Poe's classroom.  It will allow them to not only engage in reading experiences with each other, but also teachers, volunteers, parents, and grandparents.  It can provide a place where students feel safe to ask questions about stories, explore the pictures and print, "read" to a friend or have a positive interaction with a peer.  It will provide an area for stories to come alive to the young readers in the classroom.  The book nook will allow for students to have an area just for exploring, dreaming, retelling, role-playing and leaning to love and care for books.

Who doesn't like books!  We can't go wrong with this project.  I can't wait to see the photos of the finished project.

Mrs. Poe sent a big thank you to Weather Talk!

May 9, 2017 Ipad Project for Jefferson Elementary School

A total of fourteen people helped raise money for this project at Jefferson Elementary School.

We were thrilled to be one of the fourteen.  We believe that technology will help these young students be better prepared for the world of today and tomorrow.

The project was to help purchase 2 iPads for their classroom.  The Ipads will be used for guided group instruction and select apps for promoting problem solving.
