The January 11, 2020 Tornado Outbreak.

The 2020 tornado year started off active, as one of the largest winter tornado outbreaks on record occurred in the middle of January.

On January 11, 2020, thirteen tornadoes touched down in my forecast area. The tornadoes occurred after midnight. Most tornado deaths, in our local area, occur at night.

Dozens of severe weather app messages were sent to Weather Talk subscribers during the outbreak.

Several subscribers said they received their warnings before all other local weather warning sources!

One of the tornadoes struck the Casky, Kentucky area. Casky is in Christian County.

Subscribers received the following rapid-fire tornado alerts.

What are rapid-fire tornado alerts? I send app messages every few minutes to keep you updated on the track and intensity of the tornado. Instead of one generic tornado warning, you will receive multiple updates until the tornado has ended.

You can receive these app messages by subscribing to www.weathertalk.com

Once subscribed, make sure to activate WeatherOne. That product is found under the personal notification settings tab. Green is on. Red is off.

This graphic shows you some of the messages that were sent to www.weathertalk.com subscribers.

Here are the severe weather reports from that outbreak.

The red dots represent verified tornadoes. The blue dots represent wind damage. The green dots represent hail.
